Been there, done that twice, with keeping cards open after consolidating, it really is a no no.
I often say to people if they have a card/overdraft and even a loan with a bank, then approach the bank for a loan and tell them that you agree to the card/overdraft/loan being paid off and closed.
Of course debt elsewhere can mean you still get refused, but I do believe it gives people a better chance.0 -
