I know, I know. I was just feeling a little self indulgent!

Howdy everyone. Thought I'd inflict an update on you all.

So, As I get paid weekly in current job I'm one week away from being "all systems go" on DMP. I'm getting a steady stream of mail, scanning it and forwarding a copy to Payplan, and returning the original to the creditor with a LOA - as they love pretending that Payplan haven't been in touch. This is despite Payplan having the up to date balances of the accounts, which they did not get from me (and I presume not the milkman).

I had the delight of speaking to a very rude toad from JD Williams earlier, who was exceptionally rude, but wasn't expecting me to say "Gosh, you're a rude little toad aren't you?". Needless to say that rapport building exercise didn't go so well. It really annoyed me, as I'm currently (deservedly) on their collections dialler, and everyone else I speak to have been very courteous, checking details and saying that they are sorry but until the firm offer and payment comes in I'll continue to get calls. Not this crow. Anyhoo, I told him what he needed to know, and then ended the call.

I know I owe money, I'm going to pay it back and I know to be fair to him he's probably heard the same or worse 100 times today - but he chose that job, and if he can't be nice to people - he won't get much money out of them.

Aaaaaaaanyway. Inspired by the "s*it that other people will buy" thread I did a car boot last week. I sold 5 old pairs of trainers that I would have been ashamed to give to charity for £20! Bonus! Lots of other tat. Also the irony of having an Alfred Dunhill wallet with no cash in it has finally got to me, so that's on the bays as well.

    Hope everyone is smiling.

So it's been a while. Just wanted to update everyone, hopefully reading my experience will be of use to those who are considering dipping their toes into the DMP water.

*ALL* of my creditors have accepted the proposals from Payplan, two have voluntarily removed recent late payment fees on the accounts too!

    *grins*

    Keep smiling everyone!
  • So, 2 months further in. No calls, no letters. I log on to the website and make my payment once a month! Woo hoo!

If you're thinking about a DMP, from my experience I'd say do it.

Benefits: You get your life back

Negative: Your credit file gets blown to pieces (just checked it online, was not aware that much red existed) Oh well, it's as well I don't care.

    Keep smiling DWFers

Good to see you are still positive and it is going well, I remember when I set mine up the relief of finally getting it sorted out, I still have a way to go, but I no longer worry about it and the creditors have all disappeared and do not bother me at all.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post
