How did the opening of the new bank account go Jak? Don't suppose you've got round to posting any authority to act letters by any chance?0

Hello! So, this is what I've been doing over the last couple of days. Suddenly realised that I have a prehistoric building society account with about 4 quid in it that will do quite nicely, thank you, so haven't had to go through the rigmarole of applying for a new bank account. Have arranged for my salary, child benefit, etc. to be paid into this, and transferred necessary direct debits, i.e. utility bills, etc. (fortunately, I have never paid any of my creditors by this method, so that's a bit easier). All my letters to creditors set up and ready to go - just waiting for my pack from CCCS, then will send everything at the same time. And (thatsean) have oiled my shredder!! :rotfl: I feel much more positive and optimistic about things, thanks to all you lovely people. When my DMP is up and running, I also intend to come clean to Mr. Jak and tell him what I've been up to!
At least it will explain to him why he's been married to such a miserable, cantankerous specimen the last few years! When I feel ready, I will also divulge to all you lovely peeps the extent of the debt I've got to repay (it ain't good ) and how long it's going to take me to do it. If it reassures some of you and makes you realise there's always someone a lot worse off
then that's great.
Thank you all so much for your advice and support so far.

Hey Jak, well that saved you some time, and you're £4 nearer to your debt free day! Oh if we didn't laugh eh...? Good to hear the shredder is in working order, I'm sure you'l have plenty to feed it!
Go through your budget to CCCS and make sure there's some fat in there for your emergency fund for car/washer etc without the credit to fall back on you'll need to have your own money!
Well done!0 -
Thank you so much plum44 for replying. I am so scared and feel embarrassed, humiliated and so angry with myself - can't believe I ever let myself get in this situation, but I suppose these feelings are natural for anyone in this position. The pressure has become unbearable now and I have been burying my head for far too long, but I remain optimistic that this can all be sorted and I can eventually enjoy a peaceful, stress-free life (as far as money is concerned anyway!). Thank you again, I will let you know how I get on.

Hi guys, so sorry to have abandoned you for the last 12 months. Still burying my head in the sand and feel so guilty, you have all been so supportive. Anyway, DMP started on the 25th July 2012 - and do you know that I have not had the courage to open one item of mail since?? Have bags hidden all over the house filled with unopened envelopes. Anyway, thought as long as my monthly payment was being deducted from my account, everything was well. Hmm. Unbeknown to me (cos I am not opening my post) there was a mix up with one of my accounts and CCCS ended up closing my DMP! It was a mix up on their part and they have apologised and reinstated my plan, but the stress has been unreal. Hopefully back on track now - down to owing £52,000 from £56,000. Been finding it extremely stressful and difficult, but my own fault because I haven't kept in touch with you lovely people on here. That is going to change, as from now. Hope you are all doing ok, and loads of luck to all of you. Speak soon! Jak. xx0
