Remortgage & "Administrative charges"

I have just switched mortgage from Nationwide to Halifax, for a 2 years fixed rate deal. I have been charged £990 as admionistrative charges. Similar thing happened last time, when 2 years ago I switched from Yorkshire Building Society to Nationwide and had to dish out £700 pounds. These charges are ridiculous and seem unfair to me. Can someone please advise me.
Thanks

If you dont want to pay the fee, take a different product.
The choice is yours, just like buying any other product from any retailer.0 -
When the window cleaner calls and asks for his fiver for cleaning do you refuse to pay him as the water only cost 12p?
With regards to the mortgage, as Andrew says, dont use that deal if you dont like it. There are plenty out there with no or lower fees. You could also consider using longer term fixed rates so you dont have this issue every two years. Had you gone longer term fixed rate 2 years ago, you would have saved a lot more money.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
