Its not as simple as that. The winning Co-op deal only goes to the first 30,000 people already registered with the scheme. Anyone else registered who misses out on this gets pointed to the 2nd best offer which came from EDF and is slightly more expensive ... only problem is that this is one of their standard tariffs that has been around for a bit and anyone can get it already.
So the result of this scheme is that 30k people get a tarrif which over the year saves (according to report I heard) £6 over an existing EDF tariff ... so everyone would almost certainly have saved more if they'd gone to a comparison site and switched to the best offer (which clearly would be at least as good as this EDF tariff) and started the switch then rather than registering for this scheme, waiting a few weeks and finding the new "super-duper best deal" is basically what they could have got anyway.
Meanwhile the winners are Co-op with lots of "free" publicity and Which who have acquired a nice mailing list of people who think they need to be given help on finding good deals!0 -

Exactly. And with quidco or topcashback then greater savings can be achieved. Bit of a con really.0 -
Its likely the deal is limited based on industry guidelines. You simply can't switch that many people in the elec industry as the governing bodies don't allow it.
So, it would have to be in tranches meaning lots of people being pushed onto a waiting list and switching later. Then everyone falls foul of the discrimination in the SLC's.
Damp squib!
Marketing exercise...:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
