Santander - Where from here?

Thank you, to everyone, for the advice and replies received so far.
I have heard from others that it is impossible to deal with Santander once serious financial difficulties strike.
I have sent off a new complaint to the FOS about the telephone harassment; it will do no good, of course, since the organisation is largely powerless to act. But it does give me some sense of progress in having done so.
I have emailed Wescot separately to tell them to stop calling me; the debt is nothing to do with them, since it has not been sold on. Not sure about the formal, legal relationship between Westcot and Santander though; I think the former is actually part of the latter (?).
I will look into copying the whole of the correspondence, all 60-80 sheets of it, to the CEO tomorrow. In the meantime, it's 2015, and nearly time for the day's calls to stop..0 -
Ha - the irony of it. Another call, and voicemail, at 2024... :-(0

Oh Lord se0303...that's just appalling. I'm so sorry. Please do consider contacting the papers, or even watchdog. Perhaps you can shame Santander into behaving.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
Meet my best friend : YNAB (you need a budget)
My other best friend is a filofax.
Do or do not, there is no try....Yoda.

Poor you - I had same problem with them. My account was passed to Moorcroft but that;s another story! My way of dealing with them, and they did ring continually, was each time I told them that for monitoring and accuracy I was recording each call which did not seem to please them! When really p...d off I pretended to be the local take away. Please don't think I.m making light of your situation as they nearly drove me to a breakdown over a debt of £1400. It got to the point where I found them on google map & felt I had no option other than to go up to offices and sort out face to face. I did eventually change my numbers and refused to give them to either firm. I wrote and told them this as this was due to harrassment received from them. I had load of help from CAB so please get in touch with them. Every good wish and luck to you0

you might want to have a look on the wtchdog site. Santander have been slapped big time by ginger anne!
try this: scan all your letters and send one lardy email to their customer complaints also cc it to watchdog and westcot. I have just done this as I closed my account with the joyful santander and now have a bill for £800 (look at thread in regards third party notification) I have cc'd it to watchdog etc also westcot and santander (also if your account was with abbey/alliance) there might be a clause as you never signed a contract with santander so notification of new charges under santanders OP. plus got a skype account and I call them all from that costs £5 per month but no charges (except 0845) and I harras them on the phone call them 4-10 times a day especially westcot (if I tie an operator up they are not bullying others). keep them going for 5 mins then ask for a manager etc. they have now started saying they will only contact me via email....LOL0 -
I would suggest changing your telephone number and going ex-directory. You can do this once for free with your phone provider.
Try and get support from as many places as you can CCCS offer free services on debt management, CAB, Contact Watchdog.
I hope that you can find a solution to your problems and that Santander get their "just desserts"
All the best0 -
Santander did reply to my complaint; they agreed to remove my telephone numbers from their systems, and the calls have indeed stopped. That said, they again state that they are unable to accept repayment offers which do not cover the arrears and full amounts.. Their letter goes on to say that "this means that the account may be sold to a third party". Ho hum, thanks for that revelation.. Their letter, and the accompanying statement, refer to the wrong account. Good that the telephone harassment has stopped, but I'm clearly going to get nowhere with the underlying problem.0

I think you have more serious problems than worrying about Santander. It seems to me you have gone above and beyond in trying to be reasonable with them, so stop being reasonable. They play nasty, you play nasty. Sometimes that is the only language big corporations understand. Bullying tactics are a way of life for these people, they are quite happy to drive people to suicide with their harassment from what I have read in the news over the last decade. Ignore them, period.
If I was you, I'd be more worried about losing my home, than Santander. How you are going to manage in the future, where you are going to live, losing your home must be crippling, be it by a forced sale due to circumstances or repossession etc. Those things, your life, your health and your future are more important than any company out there, to whom you are a faceless nothing who they don't care about in any way whatsoever.
I'm more sad for you that you must sell your home and that redundancy has all but destroyed your life and what you have achieved so far. But the future will be better for you and one day you can pick yourself up again and start again.
Tell Santander where to go. Actually, don't bother telling them anything, I would just totally eradicate them from my life if I was you and pretend they do not exist. Worry about you, your home, your future.
Good Luck xx0 -
dont change your number think of all the people you would have to tell either add their number to your block list or ring your provider to get them to block their number0
