default removal

Hi all,

I have received a copy of my credit file andgiven it to my mortgage broker and because there is a recent default on there, the lender he has gone to won’t accept me.

However the default has a last update date of Novemberlast year and I know for a fact that the default must have occurred well over 2years ago maybe 3 years. My question is, is it correct that they can put a morerecent date on it like that? Because it’s so recent it’s causing me problems.

Because I left the address it’s regeistered to Ihad no idea that they were going to register a default, otherwise i would havepaid it and cleared it, although its my fault i didn’t keep in contact i know.I lost track of my finances around 3 years ago and buried my head in the sandbut have been trying for a while now to get myself sorted.

Anybody have any experience of this and gettinga default removed. It’s for £350 with a payday loan company (i know i wish ihadn’t bothered!) . My mortgage broker has said if i can get it removed i standa much better chance of getting a mortgage.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

the only people that can remove it are the people that put it there so your only chance of having it removed is to contact the loan company and offer to pay the debt, if they agree in writing to remove the default. otherwise they are stuck with it.

If it was recorded factually you have little hope of having it removed unfortunately.
  • Agree with Gordon Hose that you have little chance of removal. However, the default date should be within 6 months of relationship breaking down. I think Fermi confirmed this with me in the past.

    That's only a guideline though I think.

How can you forget a payday loan, dont they take it automatically from your card?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Even if the default is from 2 years ago, you'll still have trouble getting credit although it wont stop you altogether.

You have very, very little chance of getting a default removal and your mortgage broker should have told you that. They are paid to know these things.
