Arrow Global - Debt sold on, default on file - advice please

Hi first time post. I have a very poor credit file that i'm taking steps to repair.
I had a debt for qvc started 05/2004, i don't recall if the company had issued a default notice (if they did I expect it would be approx within 6 months of this date)
My credit file shows a company named Arrow Global which I expect has bought the debt however the default they have registered is 05/2008.
Using this date the default would drop from my file 2014, I haven't made any payment since 2004.
Do i have any chance of the default date being amended to 2004?
I'm not sure if i should contact anyone to challenge this or risk being pursued for the debt...any advice would be good (value outstanding £350)
thanx

Arrow tend to whack a default on your file with the date being either whenever they bought the debt, or several years after the time you actually defaulted.
Doing so is very naughty, as they are breaching the Data Protection Act by recording inaccurate and misleading information on your files.
If you want it off sooner than 2014, then you are going to have to make formal complaints about it.
Plus not take no for an answer, as Arrow will generally try to fob you off at first.
See page 19 onwards of this link on how to complain:

Info here on what should be done when recording defaults.

"Accounts should normally be filed as being in default where those payments due have not been received for six months."
Recording one 4 years later as Arrow have done is way out of order.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Ping those 3 with a strongly worded complaint, and you might get somewhere.
Basis of the complaint would be that they are in breach of the Data Protection Act by recording a false and inaccurate default date.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Example where Arrow did the same to someone else.
Now sorted.
