getting a good deal from sky

ok, we have been with sky since 1990 and we currently just have the regular digibox. we have the sky movies package which includes everything except sport.
so can anyone give us any tips on getting a decent deal to upgrade to either sky+ or sky hd? they seem to offer everything to new customers and nothing to us long term loyal customers.
thanks!
PS
on a side point we have heard that when you upgrade you can keep your old box set up and take it upstairs to watch on your portable tv in your bedroom and just watch the free channels there. is that possible?

I've been with them for 6 years and feel the same... I got no 'special deal' when I signed up and have only ever heard of offers for new customers. maybe we could start a https://www.helpoldskymembersgetadealforachangewithoutthreateningtocancelsubscriptions.co.uk website. (hehehehehe) or maybe one of the clever people here can find an offer for us?0

I have been really lucky with sky - been a customer for about 6 years + Have had Sky + for 2 years. For the last 1 1/2 years we have had it half price for the full package. This is the first month we have paid full price! On phone to them just now trying to reduce my costs......No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

Also had been with Sky since the erly 90s. However recently rang up and threatened to cancel saying that I wanted Sky + but thought it was too expensive to switch to. Without too much hassle I got offered a Sky + box for £49 with free installation and no extra monthly charges. Kept my original sky box but I just use a digi sender to send the signal to other tvs in other rooms.0

I was with them for about 10 years and had the full package throughout. I wanted to upgrade to HD or Sky+ and they didnt want to offer me anything. I was so annoyed and asked them to put me through to the cancelation dept-which they did(thinking they would offer me a deal) they didnt so i put the phone down and called back a few days later. I explained that new customers seem to get all the deals and that i would be technically a new customer when i changed to Sky+ or HD. Went through to a manager and had to call their bluff.
In the end i got free installation, and 6 months half price but had to pay full price for HD box. In saying that, their answer was that they didnt have any competition to go against so it was basically take it or leave it!0 -
we have a pace 2200, its ancient (got it sometime in the 90's and it just won't die), heard there was a trick that if you say its too expensive and your box is broke you get a new box free, unfortunatly when my mum tried this she was told
''we'll send an engineer out free- its normally £60''
its a bloomin' relic and apparently there was no deal on offer despite being with them for about 10 years.
