    A carboot sale.

I would never think of this normally but we tried it last weekend. We had LOADS of old kids' clothes, etc. and various other items. Did one on the Saturday - got there at 7am - and made £120. Did another on the Sunday but only made around £65.

After that one, I got in touch with someone I knew via Facebook who makes a habit of doing car boot sales. Sold all our remaining 'stock' to him (it was a lot of stuff, to be fair) for £140.

So we had a REALLY good clear-out and made over £300 to boot! :)

You've missed the Vivatic writing test but there's Cloud Crowd and Clickworker always open. You won't make a grand off them but you could at least get something.

If you've got any old designer clothes, bags or shoes you can flog them at a dress agency shop, there seem to be quite a few around nowadays. I took in a load of stuff recently and they gave me 50% of the sale price which was more than I was likely to get on ebay for them and was far less effort. Much of it wasn't particularly high end designer, Whistles, Jaeger, Cath Kidston etc and much of it was either from TK Maxx or charity shops! I made a couple of hundred £ easy!

Ooo, where in China are you going and what is the job? You'll have a fabulous time!

If you move VERY quickly and depending on your degree subject you might get some last minute GCSE/A level tutoring work. Use Facebook/talk to the relevant department at local schools to see if anyone needs support locally.

Sell any gold you have lying around too, or any that your Mum will let you have - but use a local jeweller not one of those rippoff postal companies. I got £160 recently and it really was just a very small amount of gold - broken gold chains and a couple of earnings.

EDIT: Sorry, just spotted your subject is English Lit. I think the GCSE Lit exam is this tuesday but you might be able to offer tutoring for those doing A level.

  • I don't know if you've booked your ticket yet, but there are companies that do discount tickets to under 25 and/or under 35 yr olds.
Also flying with a stopover would be cheaper...
  • Not sure if I'm allowed to name companies? But STA travel and Southall Travel are two I know of that do discounts for certain ages
