Bank overdraft with charges

Posting on behalf of a colleague who knows I post here - she asked me to.

They have a 600 pound overdraft with Clydesdale bank.

And 700 of charges on this overdraft.

so total of 1300.

I suspect they have just buried their head in the sand until now.

They have not used this account for a good few months, she gets her wages paid into her mums account now - she has other debt too but that is just about manageable.

I wonder how best to go about contacting Clydesdale Bank.

Write to head office, with account details etc etc, explain financial situation, ask for them to put a stop and freeze the account and allow the account holder to make payments monthly -£20-£50 to clear the outstanding.

Is this the correct way to go about this

Call the bank and explain she is struggling. Open another account and get any credits and debits paid into that account.

Best call into the branch or telephone them to explain
