Bread maker blunder, can I save it?

Options
Hi all, I have made an onion loaf today in the BM and it has come out very dense and damp!!

Is there anything I can use it for or is it destined for the recycling bin?

Did you make it by using wholemeal flour by chance, i ask because i made a wholemeal loaf once and it came out the same way. I now use 300g white and 100g wholemeal, and i have a better success rate. Other than leave it dry out a bit and whizz up for breadcrumbs i would not be able to give any pointers.

got some stale bagette, tore it up and put it into a bowl, put some milk and chopped parsley into it, then squeezed into dumpling shapes for the top of stews, they looked nice when she cooked them.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It will probably be yuk as bread but great as toast. As it's got onion in it it would be great with pate or cheese. I do a bit of experimenting with bread recipes and all my "failures" have made great toast :)

    Oops - overuse of "great"

You've probably already done something with it by now, but I find my bread disasters make good bread and butter pudding. Cut into slices and butter, cover with a custard - egg and milk - leave out sugar for a savoury one, add salt, black pepper, herbs, whatever you fancy. Could put some slices of tomato between the layers of onion bread, serve with sausages?

I'm sure my breadmaker's recipes use double or tripple the amount of yeast for the 100% wholemeal flour recipes. You could try that for next time.

Another thought for really heavy bread: slice it thinly, dry it out in the oven and use it as crisp-bread.
