Hi everyone
Just brought two packs of Asda extra special trout fillets on yellow sticker for £1 each, I have never had trout in my life can somebody please tell me what to do with them. Oh and if anybody has any ideas for salmon other than steaming or pan frying or I'd be grateful as they had a fair bit that reduced as well.

When in doubt, keep it simple. I'd grill them. Trout is delicious, so lucky you. I didn't have quite your luck on the yellow-stickers today but I did snap up a couple of mackerel for just over quid, and they are going to get a good grilling later.
For a change I'd make fish-cakes with some of your salmon: really tasty with some capers in the mixture. Of course, you can lob them in a curry if you're needing something new to do with them0 -
Thanks will try your ideas. Weird thing is nobody else was wanting the fish.0

I bought some trout once, spent ages picking the bones out of my mouth.:( I wont buy it again, I am paranoid about getting fish bones stuck in my throat.

I always say with fish - if in doubt - pan fry in butter (with a little sunflower oil added to stop the butter burning). especially with fillets, its easier to see when they are cooked.
run your fingers over the fleshy side of the fish and feel if there are bones - if so pick them out with tweezers or your fingernails.
now wipe the fish and get your pan ready - chuck in a good knob of butter and a little oil. put the fish in skin side down. watch it carefully and when you see the skin going nice and crisp flip it over, it should only take two to three mins a side for trout to cook this way.
season with salt and pepper (I like to add a bit of butter) and serve.0
