I have a large capacity machine (9kg and so a lot of space)- it can certainly wash a double duvet but I agree a superking might be a bit of a stretch. I wouldn't want ot wash it often but I do like to know it's an option (especially when I had an incontinent cat...)

abwsco - do you have to wash the fogarty duvet on a wool cycle? I was beginning to go off the idea of a wool one because a lot of the ones I've looked at say wool cycle only - and although my machine can do 9kg cotton/7.5kg synthetics it can do a maximum 3kg load for delicate or wool.

Just checked the label for you as I didn't think I'd washed it on a wool cycle. It just says a 40 wash and dry in a large capacity machine at launderette. I will have just done mine on a normal 40 and I also just dried it in my drier which isn't an industrial sized one-lol

    HTH:)

I have to add that I have washed HUGE wool blankets on the wool cycle in my 6kg machine - they were more than 6kg, let alone the 3 kg max for the wool cycle. I run a second set of rinse cycles though. Blankets have been fine, and machine also! I wouldn't dare tumble dry them though...

We use the blankets as mattress protectors under the bottom sheet on all our beds, so they do need washing fairly regularly.

I decided last time I needed to renew/wash my duvet just to buy a new one. Looking at the price of dry cleaning or taking to the launderette I found it was just as expensive as buying a new one. (Granted I bought a cheap one for £12 from Argos). I haven't wasted the old one though. Just stripped off the sheeting from the wadding/batting and there you have a huge amount of wadding for stuffing pillows, making mattress protectors, dog beds, lavender hanging smelly things, whatever! Great saving.

Well I decided to go for a wool duvet in the end and am very happy with it. I did a lot searching on the internet and found these people -

    http://www.baavet.co.uk/

I got a good deal from their bargain box. (oil spot on duvet - a third off) plus they have a 30day trial period so you can return if it doesn't suit.

I got a lightweight SK one would which should just about go in my washing machine - does have to be on a wool cycle with these ones. But hopefully it will only rarely need to be washed. The company were helpful in letting me know the weight of the duvets I was interested in.

I have ordered pillows from them too and am also the proud owner of an M&S wool mattress protector. (They had 20% off last week). A total wool convert :)

Got a 'vintage' cellular wool blanket from ebay which I will use as extra warmth for the colder months as I got the lightest version of the duvet. Very happy with it all.

Glad you're enjoying all your wool jellybubble:) How are the pillows? That's one thing we haven't got (I have a memory foam pillow and DH a feather one) although we do have wool pillow protectors.

Thanks. I only just got the pillows. I'm not that keen actually because I like a really v. soft feather one and even the soft wool ones are too firm for my preference. I may send it back and get wool pillow protectors instead.

But I imagine they'd be fine for a lot of people.

Just to add- the wool filling will not mould round your head like a very soft support feather or down one.

Thanks jellybubble:) Think we'll stick with what we've got.
