MP3 player for Swimming

Options
Hi guys,

decided three weeks ago to add swimming to my weekly training (spin classes and cardio in the gym) and I have increased my swimming to 50 lengths per session but want to increase the time spent in the pool further but I know I'll get bored without music!

Any swimmers out there recommend any players to use in the pool please?

I am currently looking at the Exeze WMR 4GB Waterproof MP3 Player (here) and the Xsories Aqua Note 4GB Waterproof Sports MP3 Player (here). Any other suggestions?

thanks for reading ;-)

I dont have a waterproof MP3 player , I use a waterproof cover from Amazon on my very old MP3 player. It cost about £10.00, and comes with earphones and is fab, there is no way I could swim without music otherwise I get soooo bored.

Sorry, im not technical enough to do links

I love swimming, but also would benefit from music! I'd swim much further.... elmer - where do you 'attach' the mp3 to while you swim?

Would be really interested to find out more about this

Thanks Elmer, I had thought about the waterproof bag but decided against it which is a shame as I already have an MP3 but the proper swimmer MP3 will be easier to attach and I won't have to think where the bag will sit lol!!

The bag comes with an elastic strap for your arm, but I dont like this so just stick it down my cleavage!!

I notice the 2 models you're considering are actually in-ear ones. Have you not considered bone conduction models?

When I looked around for a waterproof mp3 player for during swimming training, I spent ages looking at different types and reading reviews. Even the in-ear ones which are supposed to be good, are bad for falling out every few lengths and/or getting water in the ear between the earphone and your ear, and so you can't hear properly.

I was a little cautious about the bone conduction option as had obviously never tried anything like that before, but it is a more natural way to listen to music effectively when under water.

    I ended up going for a Finis Swimp3 - http://www.finisinc.com/swimp3/

There are various other brands but this got good reviews at the time. Love mine it's really good. Very comfy, no need to fiddle with it once you've put it on, the sound is good and it's small and easy to use.

Thanks for that boots_babe. I did actually consider bone conduction models but I just prefer in ear headphones - plus it means I don't have water in my ear when I finish! I actually bought the Exeze and used it for the first time tonight.

Very impressed with the sound to be fair, much better than I expected and it certainly helped with the session. Managed 72 laps before I ran out of time tonight but could have gone on and I just felt more relaxed with the tunes playing. Quite a weird feeling listening to the music nd swimming!!

They didn't pop out once and I'm hoping to do more tomorrow night to really test it.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Attached the mp3 to the back of the goggles, very very impressed and you forget they are on after a while - other than the fact you can hear music playing!!
