My DD has a family of 6 now altogether and last week with careful planning she managed to get it down to £120.That's Mum,Dad,16,12,10 &8 year old plus two dogs and Granny (me) at Sunday lunch.I do a lot of the prep for her as she works full-time along with my son-in-law The children all have packed lunches for school. She has cut back as much as she could as we are saving up as much as possible for our family holiday in August. So often I will get bread, milk and squash if I'm going round there. I don't mind as I eat there at least once a week, and like to help out with practical things if I see a bargain in the shops, or if I see they are running short of anything.Sundays lunch always does at least two meals as does a chicken. They have a cooked meal every night with lots of veg to pack it out.Luckily her boys have no problems with what's put in front of them and will eat almost anything thank goodness

our shopping budget is around £30-£35 per week on just food for 4 adults and we all eat breakfast lunch and dinner, it's hard but we eat well and don't go without too much, just have to buy all the savers food etc. but that's good enough quality mostly. 6 years ago we spent double and more than that on food but hubs lost his job 3 years ago so we've had to adapt. we don't starve and do well we think given the circumstances, plus all the lovely tips on here make sure we are well fed. thanks to u all.
