Debt managers LTd

Hi.
I have posted in the past about other DCA's I now have recieved a fishing letter from 'Debt Managers LTD' - I recieved it friday and since that day I am also being bombarded with calls on a daily basis starting from 7:30 am - I dont pick up and they leave electronic messages saying to call them (Obviously Im not ringing them back). Shall I wait and see what else they send - I thought it might be my old work which overpaid me and i pay back in occasional instalments - but when i rung them they said they still owned the debt and wouldnt sell it on and made it clear if they were to do that they would contact me first before they took that action. It could possibly be a few other things (dated around 2006/2007) shall I sit tight for now. ALso they boast on there website about their doorstop collection service and thats making me feel a bit intimidated - am i deluded in thinking that you cant just knock on doors demanding money - Some other sites are saying debt manager ltd are collection agent and have been hired to collect money owed - but surely this would have to be decided by a court and then wouldnt a payment plan need to be agreed ... Im rushing ahead of myself - if its the phone bill again (which fredrickson had and 'handed back') should i just ignore it as fredrickson wouldnt supply me with anything details i requested and gave up. ANyone had any experience with them - what debts did they buy ?? how do you get rid of them ?

Hiya I have an N Power debt that was with debt managers they have just passed it to Scot Call. I've never had anyone turn up at the door i owe money from 2006/7 onwards. They usually i think just will have your number in a system which they'll ring obviously hoping you'll answer and after they demand payment pay up!
They are not allowed to harass you with calls!! Cabot were doing it to me, I sent them the harassment letter and have heard nothing since ill copy and paste the letter for you :-) Obviously the bits about being pregnant etc may need editing!! Lol but send that either via email or post ASAP worked for me Good Luck x

FORMAL COMPLAINT - HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE.
Account Number's :
Dear Sirs,
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing. I am 7 months pregnant and find it incredibly stressful being harrassed like this. This morning i recieved one at 8.20am, whilst trying to get my children ready for school! The amount of calls per day is rediculous, even after i speak to someone i recieve another 5,6,7 per day! Does your company not keep a record of when you have called a person and spoken to them or do you operate on a harrass someone till they break policy??
I have verbally requested numerous times that these stop, but I am still receiving calls.
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Please treat this also as a formal complaint under the procedures set out by the Financial Ombudsman (FOS). As such, you are required to send me a copy of your company complaints procedure.
Furthermore, please note that the FOS consider it 'unfair' for you to continue with phone calls when requested not to do so. Also the OFT consider it an unfair practice for you to ignore my legitimate wishes on how to contact me, for example where the debtor requests contact only via written letter or email, so I now demand that you cease any phone calls forthwith.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded.
This issue is not negotiable. Any further phone calls will be logged, treated as harassment and reported to the authorities as such.
Yours faithfully,

This is a 'what counts as harrasment question/ how much power does a DCA have' - By someone who works shift patterns and is alone in the day with a young child, I have had a vague letter Friday and now none stop calls - People dont post on these sites to get horrible comments or angry icons posted. I feel bad enough as it is. I was asking for help and advice not judgement.0

Hopefully that letter will stop the calls has for me :-)0

Thanks for this - I work nights so im getting in and the calls start coming closing the 45 minute gap I had in which to sleep then start looking after my child. I dont like agreeing to anything on the phone wether it be buying ,clearing debts or complaining- the information is never recorded and it always is a you said they said. Its just helpful to hear other experiences - Im still not clear on doorstep collection. May have to call national debt helpline or CAB on this.0

I have daughter's aged 6 and 8 months im also 7 months pregnant so when my phone was ringing from half 8 in a morning whilst trying to do the mad school dash to half 9 at night and all the times in between it drove me mad! Cabot would ring id explain im in the process of a Debt Relief Order they's say ok we'll put a hold on for 30 days then 20 mins later it'd go again then the 3rd time it happen some horrible snotty woman said we can call 6 times a day so i basically told her to crack on and she'd be receiving my harrassement letter very soon! I emailed it to them straight away and have heard nothing since via phone just threw post! Like i said ive owed my debt which stands at around £14,000 since around 2006/07 onwards i have never had anyone at the door , i generally find the letters just change company's every now and again! I decided this year was the year to sort my debt as i cant carry on ignoring it forever! I went to the CAB a few weeks ago had a 2 1/2 appointment was best thing i did!! Am now in the process of a DRO with CCCS who are also Fab (only reason im not doing my DRO threw CAB is they currently have a 6mth waiting list to process them) Do seek proper advice as they will know the best way forward for you and also advise on doorstep collection, harassment etc!!0
