Victim of fraud - Carphone Warehouse

Hi All,
I really hope someone can help before I lose my mind. I lost my home a few years ago due to being disabled and unable to work, so trying to do the right thing I carried on paying off my debts but last February it became too much and I finally declared myself bankrupt, this was discharged last August.
Unfortunately I was the victim of card fraud last October; strangely all the accounts that were opened were available on cashback sites so I presume the fraudster was expecting to receive the cashback instead of the goods.
One account was for a mobile phone with Carphone Warehouse on the Three network, which was in my name but instead of being Mr it was Mrs. The first that I knew of this was when I received a mobile in the post. I contacted Three; they were totally happy, cancelled the account and removed all traces from my credit report. They sent out a return envelope and I returned the mobile direct to the Three network. Carphone Warehouse however are refusing to accept this and have ruined my credit file that I have taken months sorting out as it is now showing 8 months of late payments and a default. I don’t know what else I can do, I have sent emails and written seven letters to Carphone Warehouse, their solicitors and their credit Management Company, I have also, at their request, contacted the Police for a reference number and this was also passed to them. Furthermore Carphone Warehouse have done four credit searches on the fraudulent name so surely this should show that this person does not exist but unfortunately it is not enough.
Can anybody suggest what my next step should be, what proof can I give them to show that I am a Mr and not Mrs and it was not me that opened this fraudulent account
Many thanks in advance
Jamie

I assume that you have raised an official complaint with Carphone warehouse and have not got anywhere (As opposed to just writing letters)?
It might be worth a google to find out the directors name/customer service managers names and head office and write to them there.
Also have a look at the INformation Commissioners Office - I believe that you can contact them and report Carphone warehouse for holding incorrect data on you and state that you wish to have all incorrect defaults reomved starightaway.
Also have you tried registering with CIFAS - it's a fraud prevention organisation and it means you have a pasword associted with your credit file so others can't fraudulently apply in your name in future - yes it will slow any applications for credit down that you yourself may make but it may be worth it for peace of ming.
I'm sure others will be along with more help and advice.

Hi Dancingfairy,
Many thanks for your reply, yes I have raised an official complaint with Carphone Warehouse, unfortunately they seem to have ignored it. I checked the directors details and found the the founder/chairman so I think I'll contact him, I'm sure he'll sort something out.
If that fails then I'll contact the information commissioners office.
Many thanks for the guidance, at least I've got a couple of routes to take.
Regards
