I thought that anything over 35" waist measurement was unhealthy for women! sorry I didn't even know they made those kind of measures.. hope you find one.

I thought it was anything over 32" for women, mind you, that would be most of us.I will admit to measuring a lot recently! And, despite losing just over half a stone, my measurements do not seem to be any smaller . Grrrr! Maybe it was all internal fat if that can be possible.
edit- a quick google tells me I am wrong. it's 35"

For women, over 32" waist represents a risk to health, with over 35" representing a high risk to health. Apparently.

Surely there has to be a relationship between height and waist measurement?

If you're 4'2'' with a 34in waist, it's going to be different to being 6'3'' with a 34 in waist!

    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

It's just one of those general guidelines for the masses, to give people something to focus on, bit like "5 a day" and "30 mins exercise a day" I think. Same with BMI really, lots of factors that doesn't take into account.

Does your waistline feel lean because you're taller and in proportion? If so, I don't think you'd be worrying.

I quite like this online calculator site, which will calculate all kinds of useful stats for your details, including hip-to-waist ratio etc.

    Might be helpful for someone?
