Ford "99 'value' service - good value?

Hello

I have an 04 plate Focus (diesel). It's due an oil change and my AA membership is also due for renewal. I see Ford offer their £99 value service which includes breakdown assistance - is this good value? Does anyone have any experience of this service?

I would also like to get my wheel balancing checked as I noticed a bit of vibration when driving on the motorway today. Would this be checked/corrected as part of the value service or would it be extra?

I'm in Bromley, Kent, if anyone can suggest any alternatives.

I imagine they will try and sell you other stuff, including things like wheel balancing, but most likely expensive parts + labour for non-service items. All those shiny windows need to be cleaned you know....

GF had this "value service" and all they appear to have done is change the oil...... She paid £120, that's a lot of money for an oil change.

She should take it back and ensure they complete the rest of the work she paid for then!

Right, as if they actually do ANY of that.......... They might check the brakes and tyres to see if they can make a bit of extra cash, IF they aren't gasping for a fag.

So for Air/Oil and filters, it's still a lot of money. £25 for a can of oil, £6 for an oil filter, £8 for an air filter.... There's your value service for £40, it certainly does not take 2 hours labour to change the oil. In fact mine was done for £15 labour (due to me not having a flat area on which to do the job myself).

Granted I tend to stay on top of general maintenance myself, but add a pollen filter (£5) and spark plugs (£20) to that ^^ and you've practically got a full service.
