Discount on a Cabin on Stena Line?

Hey all,
Just thought id see if anyone had had any successes with this?
I booked my ferry (belfast to Liverpool) for tomorrow night, so obviously the night ferry.

At time of booking the cabins were a gobsmacking £50 each!
Theres no way i can afford that, so i left it.
Im registered disabled with a blue badge, so obviously money isnt a thing i have a lot of (probably the same as most people!).

But i looked at the weekend and the price had gone to an even more disgusting price of £70:eek::eek:

I had a day cabin in January which cost £20 for me and my mum. Can understand them bumpfing the price up, but i emailed Stenaline and asked them if after docking would they be able to offer a discount on the cabin. They said they might, but couldn't guarantee it.

Has anyone done a night journey and managed to get a discount?
I am actually worried about hunkering down on the seats for 6 hours, as i have ME so it will hit me hard.

Anyone had any luck in getting it cheaper? Id think theyd rather have a little something, than nothing at all, but wanted to see if anyone had any luck?
TIA:o

Last time we travelled this route, you "Had" to take a cabin on the night crossing & it was included in your price?

Not any more -its considered an "option".
This route is fairly new to Stena - i think they bought it from Norfolk or something, but i look at my booking online, and you can click on "options" and thats where the cabin is :(

I doubt very much that you will get it cheaper, they have based it on a standard hotel room price really - as in effect thats what it will be for you. The £20 day rate is there to encourage people to take a cabin as somewhere to go lie down for a while during a very long boring journey, but at night everyone wants a bed to sleep in so its supply and demand.

If they have any left they may be willing to barter, show em your badge and throw yourself at their mercy and see if they give in and maybe let you have it for £50

yeah i know. The actual ferry fare was actually quite cheap, which was surprising.

Like i say the last time i crossed was during the day and i was with my mum and the cabin was only £20 -like you say to encourage people to buy during the day.

I can totally understand the price hike, but again, i keep checking and theres cabins still available, which was why i was thinking, obviously once we leave Belfast and if theres a cabin free, id hope they would be able to offer it at a discount rate -something is better than nothing is what im thinking -BUT having said that, im not expecting to get a cabin, so if i do be able to get one its just a bonus.

Just like airports -theyve got you trapped so theres nowhere else to buy a drink or whatever and up goes the price!
Not really fair on the everyday person, but from a business point of view i can see why :(

Thank you all for the replies :)
