North West- somewhere special to take mum for lunch?
Ideas please? I want somewhere with a bit of a wow factor ideally, and also it should be located somewhere we can spend the day looking round (eg shopping, sightseeing...)
Should be not to far from Manchester too.
I had originally wanted a spa day type thing but it will cost too much

it would depend on the type of food your mum likes obviously theres china town theyres a really nice chinese buffet on portland st for about a tenner - i like bella pasta on deansgate for a or maybe weatherspoons where the odeon used to be the list is endless in manchester lol0
-
erm.. wetherspoons or bella pasta are hardly "special" places to take someone out..
If you're looking for somewhere with "wow" factor - malmaison is pretty impressive - we had a lovely meal day with work there recently - it's not cheap but not too bad.. They do a "local" menu which is only about £15 for 3 courses I think..0 -
well without an idea of what type of food i was just thinking cheap places in the city centre i never realised malmaison did food if u werent staying there will give that a try0

Malmaison is a good idea I hadn't thought of that. That's definately the type of thing I had in mind as I kind of think once you've been in one indian/chinese/italian you've seen them all....
I am happy to spend enough to get 5* quality- within reason! £15 for a set menu sounds great.
Keep the ideas coming!!0 -
I know Heaton park have mothers day lunch at the Orangery restraunt starting at 14.95 for 2 courses. Saw it advertised there when in the park today0

Choice on Castlefield Locks is quite classy, lovely food (classics restaurant grub with a special touch) and good service. Usually have a set menu which isood value, quite expensive if not.
If you want somewhere out of town, Saints and Scholars in Didsbury village is reasonably priced, fab food and quirky interior.
New flat, new budget, new commitment to MSE!

How about Buxton - it has shops and places local to see, and also a great park. I thought eat at The Old Hall Hotel http://www.oldhallhotelbuxton.co.uk - supposedly the oldest hotel in England and then onward to go and see a show at the Buxton Opera House - http://www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk/window-shopping/ which is just across the road.0
