Monday 7th May - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we first start out on the dfw trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards, cancelling sky and the gym :money:
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer every day to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging your washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they are really imprortant :j :T :rotfl:
Good morning everyone....
I've been a bit absent and sporadic with my posting lately. Without sounding too sorry for myself, real life has dealt me a few rubbish hands the past few weeks leaving me incredibly stressed and with very little spare time on my hands to get online. But I'm working my way through it, and here I am.
Here's my list for today:
Checked banking online
Find something cheap or free for the family to do to keep us entertained today.
Washing done and hung out - hoping that the weather holds out until it's dry
try and have a lsd/nsd
Back on the diet wagon again
Leave my card at home when I go out so I can't spend more than what is in my purse
Can't think of much else - have a fantastic bank holiday everyone!

Sorry things have been tough, Wannabee. I hope they look up for you soon and that stress levels go down.
I've been having a bit of a tough time too recently, but had a great weekend (gym then dinner and out dancing on Friday, got my new and much needed motorbike on saturday, long afternoon playing risk at a cinco de mayo event at our local mexican restaurant, Avengers film in the evening, then a day long bike trip out of town through some lovely scenery with friends yesterday) so shoots and ladders really.
In MSE today:
- withdraw cash to limit to pay back OH (I wasnt able to take out enough for the bike at once so had to borrow a bit from him)
- drop by clinic to get prescription filled
- toast for breakfast and lunch provided by work
- greet new room mate when she arrives this eve (we may take her out, otherwise will cook at home)
- bike everywhere that I need to go
- return rented bike to friend
- work hard at the office as loads on
- do some sorting for buisness
- maybe gym in eve

Afternoon everyone.
Going to be working away for a few days from tomorrow, so been trying to use up the perishable food in the fridge. I've discovered a challenge on the old style board about not
throwing food away. I so wish I'd discovered it earlier.
I honestly thought I didn't throw much food away, and thought a fiver wouldnt be too difficult a target, but I could easily have thrown loads away in the first week if I hadn't joined the challenge. I've spent most of the weekend working out ways of salvaging fruit, veg, bread, meat and milk - what I can use it in, what can be frozen etc.
Only a small spend today - I need to repair a hole in my trousers and had no black thread, so had to pop into Wilkinson's.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Good afternoon everyone, it’s a rather damp day here today. Well bank holiday Monday did not get off to a very good start as I had an argument with oh about money or rather lack of it. I got paid on Friday and there is hardly anything in my account :eek:but yet he can’t tell me what he spent the money on .
My list for today:[STRIKE]Check banks[/STRIKE] That’s what caused the arguments.
[STRIKE]Visit dm and borrow some money to get my ring sorted, hopefully I can claim it back on the insurance.[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]All meals from stores[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Heating on low[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Quick shower rather than the relaxing bath that I was planning[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Some work on wedding related tasks. [/STRIKE]
:)Try and get my positive frame of mind back
:)Look into any benefits that we might be able to get[STRIKE]Text woman regarding volunteer work[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Do some course work[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Spend some quality time with the kids[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Look into available work[/STRIKE]
:)Make a meal plan for this week[STRIKE]Make to do lists for this week focusing on small steps till I am feeling more positive.[/STRIKE]
I think that is everything that needs to be done today. I think this week will be a week for taking things in small steps.Aiming to get Debt Free.0 -
Thanks everyone for kind words, it is much appreciated. I'm sure things will sort themselves out soon enough... hope so anyway.
Just back from taking the kids to a play area - I'd bought a discount voucher for a fiver ages ago so we all got in for nothing.
And I made them wait until we got home to eat as well so we didn't spend on food while we were out.
Hope things are ok with you wannabe - I had a huge row with OH Friday night, but it really seems to have cleared the air for the time being.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Went out to buy paint and made the mistake in going in other shops on the retail park. Then I felt like I spent the whole time saying to DS "no I am not buying that" "no you cant have that I cant afford it" etc etc.
I did buy him a MacDonalds Happy Meal but went without anything myself. Its all just a bit depressing sometimes isnt it? When I got back in the car to come home I reminded myself that there was nothing in the shops I really needed but I guess the temptation is always there.
Ah well nice HM lasagne for tea, hope everyone has a relaxing bank holiday, whats left of it.0
