Property Repossession Adjourned....Confused! Need Urgent Help!

Hello

Thanks in advance for any help and apologies if this may sound like a dumb question.

I have recently got into trouble with my mortgage repayments due to the death of my partners step father, we had to pay for a funeral so all bills went out the window to pay for this as we were the only option, silly me i did not ring the mortgage providers to tell them what was going on but tried to pay what i could a month, not that they would have helped anyway, they are not the nicest of companies and i'm on interest only so.

Any ways, i have a court hearing tomorrrow.

I was in contact with the mortgage company last week to try and arrange a payment plan which they argreed to at £400 extra a month to pay off the remaining £1600 balance, i have already paid £1100 last week also. They said the would accept the payment plan as i had already reduced the debt with a large payment and get the court hearing adjourned, i had a letter from both the mortgage company and solicitors on saturday saying that they have wrote to the court and requested the court case be adjourned and the solicitors letter said the same that the court case has been adjourned.

Question.....Do i still need to go to court? or has the hearing been cancelled?

I cannot go to court tomorrow as my little boy is having grommits in tomorrow and didn't send the court forms back as i was trying to sort it out through the mortgage company :-(

So i am now scared that the court hearing is still going ahead and as i have not filled in anything and are unable to attend that the judge is going to reposses our home. Or am i safe and the court hearing is cancelled.

Please help, very stressed.

Hope that all makes sense.

The hearing has been adjourned so no need to attend court.

Unfortunately not making your mortgage payments your top priority isn't going to help your cause. Whatever you may think of your mortgage company.

I know what your saying, i have always paid my mortgage on time and never missed a payment but i had only a small amount a month left to put on the mortgage a month while sorting out the funeral, this process only went on for a 3 month period, i didn't relalise they would be so quick to start proceedings.

Thank you for your help, you have helped my day!

So long as you have official paperwork stating this then no need to attend.

On side point, if you have stretched yourself on the repayment to stave off a court hearing you could speak with them to renegotiate.

£400 a month over and above + lump sum payment is pretty high. Most will accept much lower extra so long s you pay the normal monthly amount on time.

If it is a stretch pay what you can and do learn the lesson of talking to them and always stick to what you commit to.

    Good luck..
