dunno when it finishes but noticed them yesterday in the in-store bakery. Not sure if it applies to the other stores w/o their own bakeries. they freeze well too, but bought loads...

  • Ooh, I've never heard of freezing a croissant! I usually freeze packaged loaves of bread but didn't think fresh bakery stuff was suitable for freezing! Does the defrosting not make it soggy?

I just warm gently in the oven from frozen and they are perfect. Same with other bakery products like pain au raisin etc.

We microwave our croissants from frozen, put two in the micro for 75 seconds at 450W and they come out hot and soft, lovely!

I wouldn't touch any of it with a barge pole. None of it is covered up so it can be handled by all and sundry and put back. Also there is no protection against coughs and sneezes. few people seem to cover up properly here when they do either.

And there are still people who don't wash their hands after visitiing the 'facilities'.
Not just Lidl either - plenty of stores have these 'help yourself' bakeries. I never buy anything that could have been handled by the public (other than fruit which I would peel or wash). I don't use those salad bars for the same reason.
