Old occupant applying for mortgage at our address

We bought a house 9 weeks ago and the old occupants haven't bothered changing their address on anything or redirecting so we keep getting their mail - whats looks like pay slips, tax stuff, banking etc. They didn't leave a new address or phone number either. We have been sending everything back return to sender but one today was ripped and I noticed that it was a succesful mortgage offer for the son of the old owner to buy a new place.
Basically we are concerned that this will affect our credit rating and we are going to have to apply for a loan shortly. Should he still be using our address 9 weeks after he's moved out or is this fraud? Not really sure what to do as we know the family are still in the area and they have a bit of a reputation for causing trouble so don't want to mess up his chances of getting a house. Have already sent back a solicitors letter on Friday which I suspect would have been related to this as well. Any advice?

Poor credit on anyone other than you at your home address, will not affect you - its an urban myth that properties are blacklisted - its indviduals who have poor credit records = so don't worry about that aspect.
The son's application could have been submitted before the family vacated the property - so may not have been a fraudulent application at outset.
The only thing you need to do is return the document to the sender, with a note stating "non longer at this address" - and let the lender take it from there.
There is really no need to involve yourself any further - and let me assure you, the lender is not about to provide mge finance to an individual whose status checks are placed in doubt, without verifying the same. So don't worry that somehow he will end up with a mge or finance and it will affect yourselves.
I'm sure that there has probably just been an overlap with the submission of the Son's mge application and possible delayed mge offer, which has been issued following the parents sale of the property to yourself - and I really wouldn't put too much stock by it as regards attempted Fraud, even if it is, let the potential Lender deal with it from here.
Hope this helps
