cancellation fees

I have recently had an insurance policy cancelled by endsleigh,i took it out online but used my wifes debit card to pay the initial deposit, they would not take the account details for the dd as they were not in the name of the policy holder,so i gave details from an account we rarely use with the intention of transfering funds monthly, my wife was taken ill during this time and i forgot to transfer money into my account as i was running backward and forward to hospital, they cancelled the policy and then last week i noticed that £122 had been taken out of my wifes account, broken down as follows, £50 cancellation fee, £27 missed direct debit payment, £2 commision and £43 monthly instalment, when i contacted them to query these amounts and the fact that they had taken money from someones account without permission i was told that this was perfectly within their rights, can anyone offer any advise.
