More Rewarding Investment

Hi

Have a pension worth about £30K thats been transferred from Barclays to Re-Assure. Funds are Managed and the 500 and I'm looking to improve on the investment return.

I think my options for an internal fund switch are limited in terms of fund choices (and the charge is always 1%) and I'm considering setting up a new plan with another provider through Cavendish to benefit from the reduced charges.

The choices with Cavendish are:

Aegon SE
Aviva
Friends Life
LV
Scottish Life
Scottish Widows
Skandia
Standard Life

I’ve been reviewing the available funds on Trustnet and its a little overwhelming.

I seek views on how you would go about making a decision of choosing a provider (I expect there is not much in it) and funds (much more difficult??). I’m prepared to take a higher risk on this investment than the existing funds.

I also seek views on the cost/benefit of using an IFA. I would be prepared to pay a fee for good advice but I’m not sure with this pot and my chosen route whether they will be able to add much but I’m open to thoughts.


Can’t see me getting a rewarding fund with a Stakeholder Plan but if anyone can think of any benefit to this route please tell me.
