HP Compaq Dual-core Laptop for £379 after rebate!

I don't know whether this has already been posted up or not, but I was looking for a laptop, and I think this is a really good deal for a dual-core x2 laptop. Don't think there is a cheaper dual-core on the market at this price, quite portable also and long battery life.
  • AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL-52 1.6 GHz
  • 512MB DDRII-667MHz SDRAM
  • 60GB Hard Drive
  • DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive - To read DVDs and CDs and write CDs
  • 15" XGA TFT Screen
  • ATI Radeon Xpress 1150
  • Integrated gigabit LAN
  • Integrated wireless 802.11a/b/g LAN
  • 4.2-hour Battery Life Depending On Use
  • Operating System: Windows XP Professional Edition with a free upgrade to windows vista
  • 1 year warranty
And HP offer £50 back on this laptop, so that brings down the price to 379 if you buy from Laptops Direct (£8 rebate thru quidco) or £383 from Ebuyer ; don't know if there is a delivery charge with laptops direct, but personally I would buy from Ebuyer as there is free delivery and from my past dealings with them, they have efficiently dealt with any enquiries or returns. Full specs are available on the relevant links, and apparently its had quite good reviews.

This seems an even better deal if you have extra cash to spare as its got a DVD+RW, a gig of memory, and 2GHz x2. After cashback, comes down to 482, can't fault it, its quite cheap in comparison to other offerings with regards to its specs.

its got a good processor and acceptable graphics but frankly dont see the point in buying anything that isnt widescreen these days, most people would probably be better getting a wide screen single core book with more ram and turning off all the background noncence the run.

Horses for courses! I don't like widescreen laptops or monitors. I have no interest in watching movies on a laptop and hate peering at the many websites that only use the left half of the screen.

The ebuyer laptops don't mention vista upgrade will it definitely be eligible?

Good point, didn't see that in all the rush! I think it would be wise to find out from Ebuyer themselves, I have sent them an enquiry, let's see what they say.

I think they should as the upgrade on the other site is done by HP themselves upon proof of purchase for laptops between certain dates

(however if ebuyer bought them under different conditions there may be a problem)
