  • has anyone tried getting their exit fees from future mortgages? because in the past i've found them the most unhelpful company ever.
  • Hi! Does anyone knowif this applies to Local Authority Lenders as well as Banks/Building Societies? My mortgage was with a local authority and I settled early.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Just watched Martin on Loraine Kelly talking about reclaiming mortgage charges.

Does this apply to sercured loans?
  • HI
I have also just watched Martin and Lorraine on telly talking about reclaiming mortgage charges.
We have re-mortgaged several times to different lenders over the last 5-10 years but i dont have any paperwork showing our mortgage account numbers with the companies. Is there anywhere i can find these out??
  • Hi There,
I have just had a look at the list of Banks/Building Societies but Lloyds/TSB is not on that list. Is it one of the few that didnt charge, though I do not believe they wouldn't if every one else was. If they have how do I get my money back. Thanks Liam

Pay what they are asking for, and then claim the difference back.

They are allowed to ask for the "wrong" amount until something like 31 August, after which they'll have to start asking for the "right" amount in the first place.

It might seem silly, but it will only mess up your redemption process if you refuse to pay the amount they've asked for.

And, according to other posts, they'll refund you very quickly when you complain.

    Many thanks MarkyMark,

I will do that and see how i get on,
    Thanks again,
    Sam x
  • Hi,
I called Kensington mortgages this morning the girl informed me that Kensington are not paying back the MEAF fee as it was £145.00 and they think this is fair, how does this sound to you guys ?

    cheers

Saw Martin on LK Today this morning, and took his advise and rang my old mortgage provider, who stated that I was entitled to a refund. Its only £30 but its better with me than them. Well worth the price of a phone call.

  • I have just reclaimed my MEAF with the Halifax Plc of £25. Was at £75 in July 2001 and £100 charged in Sept 2004.

Since then I took a mortgage out with the Northern Rock and I have just renewed with them for another fixed term. I was charged £295 Mortgage Review Fee for staying with the same company. Can I claim this back? It seems very unfair that we should have to pay this when they had all our details etc. on file and they haven't had to do anything other than press a button!

Is a Mortgage Review Fee the same as a MEAF as I have exited an old product and taken a new product with the same company?

    Thanks
