Please give me some advice, had a letter this morning and no solicitors around till Tuesday to advise so driving myself mad.
My Husband brought his house 6 and half years ago with his x partner. She moved out after cheating on him. We met and fell in love. When I got with him she stopped all payments on mortgage. 6 years ago she actually only lived in property for around 2 months. Anyway I got pregnant unplanned and moved in this was 6 years ago, my husband gave her money to buy her out and we keep trying to have her name removed from mortgage (unfortunaly its Northern Rock) they keep refusing as I am a full time mum so I have no income but we manage the payments well as my husband has a good job. basically I think its partly northern rock not wanting to give up extra name and husbands credit rating thanks to that relationship. anyway she has not contributed a penny for 6 years has had more than her share paid to her when left and we have a almost 5 year old daughter and have completely re vamped the house. Today I have received a letter from solicitors threating court. Are we going to be left homeless because of this situation (that believe me I do not want to be in) it seems unfair? really need some advice or reassurance as im a worrier and can not find anywhere to get legal advice from on a Saturday Afternoon?

Short answer is no and certainly not without a long winded, expensive case. The court and incredibly unlikely to repossess with a child living in the property.
You or OH need to talk to her though, as otherwise this will turn into a costly event all round and probably achieve little.
I am not a solicitor clearly so you would do well trying to get some advice..
Good luck - can you not get a family member to go on mortgage with OH just to get rid of her??
Assume it is an NRAM special and not much equity so a remortgage is out of the question...?I am a Mortgage Broker

What claim has been made by the solicitors in the letter?0 -
What's the house worth?
How much is the mortgage balance?
Did the payment o her go through a solicitor? If not was it clearly documented and receipted?
What is her current claim via her solicitor?
More facts please.0
