Hi Has anyone had any experience with any over the counter slimming tablets. I dont mean those dubious ones off the internet just something one can buy from a health shop or indeed Boots etc. I think my metabolism had virtually stopped lol and id like something to boost it and hopefully see some results from my gym going experiences. Thanks.

I think the popular ones at Boots etc are the type that inhibit the absorption of fats into the body. This has the rather unfortunate side effect of rather smelly, greasy diarrhoea and wind when you eat anything with a fat content of more that 5%. The theory being that you take one in the morning and its a REALLY good incentive to eat low fat food all day!! Not tried them but know several people who have and they are split 50/50 about how good they are.
I don't know anything about the "speedy" type pills that supposedly speed up your metabolism / give you more energy but will be following the thread with interest...0 -
I recently tried the Adios tablets and found that although they stopped me wanting snacks during the day, when it was dinner time I really couldn't wait another minute, I had to have something there and then.
They also, after a few days, gave me stomach pains."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I have been on the ones that gives you "greasy poo" and they do work.....but be prepared for the sideffects as they it can be rather embarassing. I remember getting the urge to fart...only more than air came out! Horrendous! Though i did loose a couple of stone on them. I have also been on reductil ( which is now band) and they worked in the brain by speeding up the metabolism and making you feel less hungry, also meant to give you more energy, they wasn't for me though. I had constant headache, felt hot, snappy, couldn't relax, felt like i was on amphetamines plus they didn't really work in the weight loss department either.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0
