Provident Finance

Hi,
My nana has got herself in a little mess with provident which im trying to help her sort and was just wondering if anyone would be able to help with the answers to the following questions ?
She has asked them if she can pay her monthly amount by direct debit or standing order however they are refusing ? Can they do this ? This way the amount would be guarenteed to be paid every month and wold save my nana from dealing with the very pushy woman who collects her money and also allow me to keep an eye on whats actually getting paid.
Basically the other reason for this is that my nana had got herself not that long ago to just under £100 owed to provident when the woman persuaded her to take out another loan to pay it off aswell as getting herself some extra cash. I want to try and avoid this again as they are just a bunch of rip off merchants.
How would she go about getting her total balance due from them and do they offer discount for paying early ? ( i would possibly be able to lend her the money to pay this off if it is going to save her a good amount if interest)
Thanks in Advance

hi
Provident will not accept direct debit/standing orders as im aware from my parents whos had an account in the past, the only way you can manage the payments yourself is to contact the nearest banch and ask them to send you a (ALLPAY) payment card where you can go to local post office and pay what suits yourself accordingly !!!
I hope this helps ...
kind regards0 -
Try taking a look at LendersCompared and see if you can get her to replace Provident with a cheaper lender there that will accept payment in that way. LendersCompared is a site that regulations require larger doorstep lenders to participate in and a range of other lenders also use it.
She could also seek a budgeting loan, which is free if she's eligible.0 -
I have had many dealings with provident. They are a reputable company I have never had any problems with them. Saying that their loans are all very high interest and a complete con and 'yes' they do push for the re-loans (I have had many!). Pleased to say I haven't used them in over a year........
I use to take a loan with them and then write the agent say 5 * £100 post dated cheques to get rid of him for 5 months..... it does work.
I would recommend that you lend her the money, get rid of them. You can phone the head office (google it and use the freephone number) and ask for a settlement figure. They will give you one and you can settle up there and then over the phone, don't panic about using your card details over the phone - they are not like that!!
Hope that helps.:beer:0 -

Once your Nan has all the information, then you can do as Simon2010 suggests.
She may get a reduced figure by settlign early, it all depends on payments she has made.
Good luck and hope you can get things sorted for your Nan.0
