Hi all
Ive been recieving letters from Lowell collections stating i owe an outstanding balance to Egg,(which i have not aknowledged) and that they have have tracked me down to the address and how or what are my methods of payment to clear the balance...
Today ive recied a letter from Red debt Collections stating that they would like the full payment otherwise a CCJ and court apperance will be granted.
Can i mention this is for a loan that i took out in 1999 and that the last payment or aknowledgement to Egg was in 2002 and now Lowell has been ading searches to my credit file every 2-4 weeks and bombarding me with these letters etc...
Am i right to believe that after 6 years statute barred is classed on any creditors ? also can anyone advise on what to do next please ?
kind regards:)

Statute barred and they are breaking the debt collection guidelines by claiming that they can take court action for statute barred debt. Do as suggested in fermi's posts.
If it really is a debt you incurred, you do still owe the money, of course. They just can't take action to force you to pay up any more. [STRIKE]Be aware that a payment of even one penny will start the clock running again and open the door for them seeking a CCJ against you. So do it all at once or not at all.[/STRIKE]0 -
Once statute barred, always statute barred - see post#6 of Fermi's thread.0
