Desperately Seeking Assistance :(

I really need someones advice on the problem below.

I have debt that were accumulated during a previous relationship. I have been paying these all myself since the seperation. In the last year I have become very unwell and had lots of time off from my job. I then was on SSP for the last few months. As a result I have fallen behind with my previously immaculate finances.

I have been on medication for a few months and strting to feel better and want to get back to work and sort out my situation so I can keep my home (even though my mortgage is in joint names with ex but I've been paying myself).

As I live in Scotland I was considering a DAS plan as my debts are around 13k and if I go back to work could make a contribution. My only concern is that my job is in financial services (mortgage advice) and worried a DAS would be frowned upon and I could end up losing my job and having to go down bankruptcy.

Can anyone offer advice? Would rather not have to discuss this with my employer for fear of dismissal at this stage.

Thanks

    Hiya, and welcome

Please try to see one of your local money advisers - CAB or the Council. They'll be better placed to give you advice on your options, and they may also be able to give you advicde on how those options would affect your employment.

I'm not sure that you'd be able to apply for DAS until you've got some disposable income to let you make payments. Again, a money adviser could advise you on that.

My view is that DAS is probably acceptable to your employers. You'd be committing yourself to paying back your debt in full - not writing some of it off through bankruptcy or a trust deed.

Bankruptcy is a non-starter if you want to stay in your current career.

A trust deed might be OK, but again that's something a money adviser can look into for/with you.

    Thanks,

I've made an appointment with the Citizens Advice this week so will see what they advise :)

Appreciate your assistance with this matter!
