    Congratulations on your marriage-to-be!

Him not being Scottish isn't a reason for him not to wear a kilt, it's nice to see kilts at weddings, the men feel grand and the photos are fantastic :)

My hubby wore a kilt - Welsh tartan (is there an English one, there may be)
so did my dad (a Geordie) and my brother-in-law (from Lichfield)

A lot of my very traditional and very proud Scottish relatives would argue with you on that one! :)

Some people argue that you shouldn't wear white if you've already slept with the groom, but lots of people break traditions!
If your groom wants to wear a kilt he should go for it!

As for the original question, why not put a note in the invites of your Scottish guests saying that Kilts are welcome but not compulsory.

i was at a wedding last week and both of the scots attending wore kilts as that is what they always wear to weddings.

It seems to be very much down to the individual man, as neither of the two scots coming to my wedding are wearing kilts apparently.

Hmmm yeeees but if a majority of my guests felt VERY VERY STRONGLY that you shouldn't wear white unless you're a virgin, and I wasn't hugely bothered, I might consider wearing ivory so as not to rock the boat.... similarly, OH quite fancies wearing a kilt but isn't REALLY bothered, whereas lots of the guests will feel quite strongly about it, so it's no skin off his nose to wear a lovely morning suit instead. Just like he fancies having a monacle and a cane but probably won't end up with that either! lol

Ah, I see, like my OH threatened to have a purple suit with a green shirt & orange tie then (which I'd have LOVED!:rotfl:)

Maybe you could get him a monocle & cane as a wedding gift ;)

Has your OH not got an ounce of Scot in him somewhere? Particularly if there is a tartan for his name?

My DH has his own kilt, he's 1/4 each of English, Scottish, Irish & Welsh and feels perfeclty entitled to wear it!

    Hi Daisiegg

I'm scottish on my Mum's side. At my wedding last year my scottish family all wore kilts. They would never dream of not wearing a kilt to a wedding - it's like a suit in that it's their default option. I'd say about 10 of the men wore them. I'd be really surprised if a scot turned up to a wedding in a suit!

We had my cousin pipe us down the aisle and into dinner. It was fantastic - very different to the normal "here comes the bride" malarky and was very special to us. Sounded amazing in the church.
