Between courses, council tax still payable?

I just re-instated my council tax status as a student after months of wrangling and sending letters back and forth to the council tax offices.
Finally getting a refund for all dues paid, however its £50 less than what it ought to be, and apparently this is because there were 5 days between me finishing my undergrad course and joining up on a Masters.
Is this a valid excuse by them?

what band are you in ?, £50 for 5 days would be quivalent to £3650 p/a.
Technically your local council are right to charge but personally when I deal with cases like yours I tend to give the exemption/disregard straight through ratehr than stop it for a couple of days.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Am in Band F, I did argue with them saying it was only 5 days in between and it is ridiculous to count those days when there is obvious evidence that the gap is just for a change of course. They didn't listen anyway.0
