Where can I buy large quantities of oats . . . ?

Hi, I'm looking for large bags (greater than 1kg) of good quality oats like the Scotts 'old fashoined' thick rolled oats not the dusty cheap stuff you can buy anywhere. We get through large quantities of oats in our household and I'm wondering if there is a cheaper way of purchasing them in larger quantities. I have had a quick search on t'interweb but to no avail so far.

I know what you mean about the "dusty cheap stuff".
I use Jordan's jumbo rolled oats and love it, got quite a bit last year using coupons and around £1.10 per box, so not cheap - but worth it.
Keep an eye out for Jordan's coupons and stock up. I'm down to my last box now!!
Good luck, though oats seem to go a long way.

Is this for porridge? I use Hamlyns Oatmeal (red package - think it might be called "Fine"). It's very good quality (no dust!) but afraid only 1kg bags although recently they had manufacturers offer of 33% so they were 1.33kg.0

Best porridge I ever saw was Jungle Oats from South Africa which you can buy here in 1 kg boxes - there are various South Affrican stores which do mail order.0

Just a few from the first page of a search, I can't vouch for any of them.

Mornflake definitely.
they do a lot of the own brand stuff for the Supermarkets.
We have an outlet that sell their Oats in big bags - good stuff."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

If you live near a 'proper' bakery (i.e. one that bakes on site) then they might be willing to get you a sack of oats in - they would be able to order them from their flour supplier and iirc they're not dear at all.0

ASDA Extra Special Scottish Whole Rolled Jumbo Oats (750g) are currently £1.28 (17.1p/100g). Not sure what these are like though.
Quaker Oats Jumbo Whole Rolled Oats (1Kg) are currently 2 for £3 (15p/100g) until 08/05/2012 at Waitrose. They also sell Mornflake Gold Scottish Jumbo Oats (1.5Kg) for £2.49 (16.6p/100g). These were also on offer a few months back from what I remember and were selling for £1.49, think it was back in January. Worth keeping an eye on.
Try searching mySupermarket from time to time as well.0 -
Try googling Daily Bread in Northampton. They have another branch but can't remember where and they do deliveries. Fantastic selection of wholefoods and if you are ever in the area, go an see them - they are addictive!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
