a win thats not a win!

Hi all, I won a cruise on the Nile in Luxor yesterday on Twitter!

Before you all rush to say congratulations I have to say that it was just for accommodation with full board. Still sounds good but it will cost a minimum of £800 for flights plus transfers etc. etc. Plus excursions, tips and the list went on.

Sorry to sound ungrateful but if I had £800 knocking around I would be on holiday instead of writing this! So this was a win that wasn't a win

I have asked the promoters to switch it but they just quote T's & C's

Thanks to all posters who keep me sane and living in hope that next time it will be the holiday of a lifetime.

Surely they must have stated it in the T&Cs?
Are you going to go on it? Maybe you can get them to change the name/redraw...

That's such a shame, but it does seem to be pretty standard for holiday comps - cruises in particular. I don't usually bother much with T&C - other than when I enter holiday comps. And re the last comment, it's very unlikely you can sell it on, or even give it away.

Still, I still think it's worth a congrats, because you still won. It shows you can be lucky, and hopefully you will be again with something you can make use of.

all they did was quote terms and conditions and its non transferable or I would give it away to make use of it.
They are going to re-draw another winner if thats the right word but I think a prize should not cost you to take it up!

Mmmm I understand what you mean as I've been lucky enough to win a few holidays & I've always had to fork out extra cash. I never look at T&Cs apart from for holiday prizes, & I always try & weigh up how much (if it's not AI) I'd have to pay if I won. Maybe do that in future to save disappointment.

Did the terms and conditions say you had to fly with them? If not maybe you could find a cheap way to get to the cruise.
