Court date this wednesday

And I am petrified!! I am so worried that I am about to make a huge mistake!! and I am so worried about the consequences afterwards! Can anyone whos gone through the BR please tell me of their experience? I am only £10k in debt and keep feeling BR is extreme for this amount, but I am a single mum, with no income and cannot afford a DMP or any payments to creditors, so have been told I have no other option via NDL and CCCS :(

I think most people feel like that, its a huge rollercoaster of emotion but if you have no way to repay the amount owed it doesn't matter how much it is!

    Stay strong

Hi, I did look into a DRO with National Debtline, as there was a chance during the 12 mths that i could go out of my £50 a month threshold, as my ex doesnt pay maintenance regularly, therefore cannot be included as an income, but if he were to unexpectedly give me £50 (which he has done before) it would revoked the DRO!

I would much rather do a DRO, but very high risk apparently

  • I have also rung the Court and changed my date to 31st May to give me more time to move over DD's and incoming payments etc

A huge mistake in what sense?

If you can explain exactly what it is that worries or concerns you about it, then we can try to address those issues.

  • It scares me that I wont ever be able to own my own home, I was training in Law, and now I cannot do that, I'm scared of not being able to provide for my children :( I guess I feel I had a plan for my life, and to be a 33 year old single mum, with now no career prospects, whos bankrupt wasn't it. I'm also scared of what people will think of me :( I'm terrified of going to court! I read everywhere that they are all very friendly and nice, but I'm just worried I will be the one who gets the judge on a bad day lol Cannot stand people being angry/unhappy/disappointed in me.

And scared of losing my home and having to uproute the kids, theyve been through enough!!

Aw taking control i fully sympathise with u! I feel exactly the same, my debt is made of of a £20k mortgage shortfall with my ex, £25k to damily and £15k to credit cards/loans but i cant see any other way out so my BR date in court is the 29th May.

This is the only way to get my ex to take some responsibility as he will now be pursued for the whole mortgage shortfall but as he gives me maintenance as and when its justified i think.

i feel the same though about BR. i had my daughter at 18 and promised my parents i wouldnt end up in the buggy brigade walking around town all day with multiple kids, worked hard to pass all my accountance exams (ironic) and now 14 years later after a messy violent divorce im back to being the stereotypical single mum living in a council house on my own with 2 kids with not an asset to my name.. so massive hugs to u!! :) x

i also dont like being judged and having people disappointed with me so am dreading the next few weeks..
