Pension Concern

I'm currently paid an early retirement pension by a former employer which I took when I was made redundant over 2 years ago.

As it no longer covers my outgoings I have accepted a part time job offer from a competitor of my former employer. I would be seen as a direct competitor to my former employers business.

Is my pension still safe, or are there any steps the former employer could take which would effect the pension they are paying me?

Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

The first thing to do is to read through your old contact of employment and any paperwork that you signed when you accepted early retirement. Is there any mention of restrictions on future employment, or employment by a competitor?

I really can't see any restrictions applying to taking a job over 2 years later. Sometimes they're written into contracts of employment but with a time limit, so you don't "retire" straight to the board of directors of a rival company. I suspect they're rarely enforced. And the pension couldn't be affected as it's paid by trustees, not the employer.
