help

Either yesterday or Sunday I jotted down a recipe but didn't write down what it made - just the ingrediants and how to make it!

the ingrediants were:
2oz Marg
2oz Sugar
2tbsp Hot water
2tbsp Hot milk
flavouring.

I made a rough note of the directions which were:
Beat the Marg until soft. Add the sugar and cream until light and fluffy. Beat in the water drop by drop. Beat in the milk drop by drop. Add flavouring to taste.

anyone any ideas what this would make?

Sounds like a cake icing to me.
    Add cocoa for chocolate.

thanks its the mock cream - remember now.
  • Can I be nosey and ask what it is used for and does it have fewer calories than cream?
  • I just did a search on here for a recipe for 'mock cream' as I remember my Grandma using it on butterfly cakes, I've just asked her how to make it and she told me what's in it and it included cornflour mixed with milk and water which is cooked and then left to cool, then it's mixed with icing sugar and butter - but she couldn't tell me quantities as she 'guesses'. Just wondered if anyone knew????

  • Hmmmmmmm I've just found this online - but what's a gill???

    Mock Cream

2 oz sifted icing sugar 1 gill of milk
2oz margarine few drops vanilla essence
    ½ oz cornflour

Blend the cornflour with the milk and boil for three minutes. Allow to go cold and then beat into the creamed margarine and sugar, a little at a time. Add the essence and beat until smooth
