How much will my Mum get?

Hello all,
I have to admit to knowing very little about pensions - so my apologies in advance.
My Mum is 60 in April 08. She is currently on incapacity benefit. She will not have paid in enough credits for a full state pension.
Does anyone know what will happen when she hits 60? What will happen to her benefits?
If she moved in with me I dont think she would be eligible for benefits any longer - but would she still receive her pension? And how much would this be?
Any thoughts gratefully received.

She should contact these people to get a state pension forecast:

If she is eligible for pension credit on top of her pension and this is higher than her IB, then presumably she will move over to that. The CAB would be another place to ask.
Does she currently receive housing benefit and free council tax? If on pension credit she will still be eligible.Trying to keep it simple...

There should be no change to Incapacity Benefit if she moves in with you. Where she lives will not make a difference to that. Also, while she is on IB her NI contribution is being paid so, as long as she had a full record of contributions before she became ill, she should get the normal pension for a 60 year old woman. Any other benefits she is receiving may change if she lives with you.0

Don't forget she may be eligible for some Home Responsibilites Protection for any years that she was in receipt of Child Benefit that could make her qualifying years less than you think....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

She should apply for a State Pension Forecast, which can be done online:

My mum was in a very similar situation, for various reasons she'd paid ni/tax/pension etc for only 10 years, and was receiving incapacity when she turned 60.
Her benefits actually went up by about £5 on her 60th. The type she got did change however, she contacted her benifit office who were happy to send someone to the house to explain what she was entitled to and helped her fill in the forms just before she turned 60.
I'd sugest you do the same, good luckDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0
