Santander Car Loan final payment shocker
My son took out a car loan with Santander in 2008 he has received a letter stating his final payment will be in June 2012, but on top of this it states that in order to transfer title of the vehicle from Santander Consumer (UK) plc to you, there is an additional administration charge of £299, as shown in your terms and conditions.
Can some one tell me if this is right it seems a right con fiddling gits, they will not get any more business off us again.

If it is in the terms and conditions (which he will have signed agreeing to) then of course it's right.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If it was in his original agreement it is quite lawful. He did read the agreement, didn't he?0

Well he was shocked when he read the letter this morning, when there young they will sign to anything, he probably did not see that clause, oh well I am sure he will read the small print in future.0

So they are not "fiddling gits"?0

Must admit I have just had a similar letter - and I do usually read the small print! But it is there - just will never use Santander again....it certainly wasn't pointed out to me by the car dealership. What happens if one refuses to pay this, I wonder??0

That is clearly explained in the letter - if you don't pay, title does not pass to you.
Laughable that you can blame someone else for your own mistake!0 -

As stated in the letter it will come out with your final payment on your direct debit.0 -
Mine was via Black Horse.
£150 with the first payment, £150 with the last.
Clearly explained in the credit agreement and on this occasion by the Ford dealership. It's just a way of getting more money from you, but you do have a choice.0 -

If your son is that naive then why didn't you give him the benefit of your worldy wisdom when he was buying his car??? Oh that's right you didn't understand either bacause you're on here moaning.
FYI it isn't Santander that would be at fault if your son wasn't aware of this payment it would be the dealership for not pointing it out, although they probably did. Also all of the finance houses send out a second copy of the executed agreement directly to the customer. perhaps your son also needs to learn to read??
I suggest you change the title of your thread just in case Santander decide to read it and come find you.:rotfl:0 -

What would happen is that after making all of those lovely payments they would come and collect the car and make a nice profit on the re-sale leaving you with nothing. Please don't make the payment and then come back on here and let us know how unfair it is for a finance company to adhere to the law.:rotfl:0
