Over the last 4 years I have been charged late payment charges by Big Box Storage for room rental - is there any precedent for reclaiming these charges? Has anyone else had similar experience?

Have you checked exactly what date in the month they want you to pay? perhaps if you do this you can save yourself those late fee's.
Phone them have a word and see what they say you can do to stop those late fees appearing on your bill.0 -
I have now terminated the storage agreement and want to reclaim the charges I incurred. I wondered if anyone had tried to do a claim in the small claims court for this type of charge.0

On what grounds?
The court will ask for your evidence that your contract didnt include the provision for late fees. What does your contract say?I wondered if anyone had tried to do a claim in the small claims court for this type of charge.

i thought I could proceed in the same way as with credit card late payment charges - I was never issued with a copy of the contract0

Two totally different things I'm afraid.I was never issued with a copy of the contract
As you didnt take a copy then you should ask them for a copy. You are going to need it if you want to go to court (assuming they are taking fees that are not agreed in the contract).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
