Venetian Blinds

Options
Hi,

Looking to get venetian blinds for house windows. Want to get good attractive blinds without paying toooo much!

I have seen ready made blinds which you need to cut to size.
How easy is this to do?
Do ready made blinds cost a whole lot more?
Where is a good place to buy?
What is a good brand?
What defines good quality blinds as prices vary from £10- £150+

Thanks
Filiss

    have you tried ikea?
thay have lots of blinds and you can generally cut them down in size by a bit, usually have lots of sizes to choose from
only good if you live near an ikea and can be bothered with the hassel of the shop though
ps dont pay by credit card as they charge 70p or so for this, pay by debit card

    hope this helps

We bought a little gadget from Argos to cut the blinds to size, it cost about a fiver and you also got a cleaning thingie with it. They also sell the cutters at Ikea or, at B&Q Warehouse they will cut blinds for you but I think you have to buy a specific brand. By the way the cleaning gadget is useless.

    Thanks all.

Can you use the device to cut wooden blinds?

No, you can't use the Argos device for wooden blinds. If you are reasonably competent with DIY it isn't that difficult, but you do need a clamp and an electric saw. I got my next door neighbour to do mine - which doesn't help you much..... sorry...

I do love Venetian Blinds - but they are a nightmare to clean. Has anyone found a really easy way to do them? I've tried in the bath and on the lawn with tghe hose etc etc. In the USA they have places who will collect them and clean them really cheaply by ultrasonics or something. I would happily pay someone to do mine as I hate it so much. Ideas anyone???

Thanks. This seems to be the same company as Hillarys Blinds. Has anyone had any experience with them?
