Toys R Us Gold card for points

Hey guys i wondered if anyone has one of these cards and has had any vouchers yet and what type they were

i tried to check out reviews to see what sort of offers were sent but people were just moaning saying that its not worth it

this doesn't make sense as the points system is free so it cant be 'not worth it' as this suggest it costs lol i eventually got fed up of reading statements with this ridiculous use of the phrase and thought i would ask u guys

i am happy with the system it is no extra effort for me to swipe my card when i go through the till and they send me a quick customer service email each time where i can win £100 voucher (im sure i wont win but again it costs nothing to enter lol)

all i was curious about was the type of vouchers people had received were they for random items or were thay based on the sorts of items people had purchased in the past

look forward to hearing from people and when my first set of vouchers arrive should be around august i will let people know what they are like :D

i have at this moment 2 booklets(time limited- mine expire soon)
    and probably won't use any.
the most useful are generic £5 off £30 spend
or £5 and £10 off £30/£50 spends in specific categories.
the second book are a few pounds off specific items.

they give you points earned for spending and then 'convert' them into coupons so when your points run out you wouldn't be getting rewards but mights still get special deals (my 2nd booklet is 'birthday baby'- cause dgs is turning 1)
  • Thank u for the reply they sound great thats the sort of thing that will come in really handy really glad i posted now cant wait for mine to come lol x:beer:
  • Hi

I've spent a lot of money in Toys R Us and they actively promote this wonderful 'goldcard'.

In my humble opinion, they deliberately mislead you - on the website it states how much money in coupons you will receive depending on how much you have spent in store. I, and everyone I know, reads this as a monetary discount - like most stores do as you accumulate points you get to spend them on whatever you like in the shop.

So I was quite looking forward to receiving my saved up points and being able to get my little ones more toys. Then I received the 'coupons'. They are basically what anyone can get whether they have points or not - for example, £5 off if you spend £30 on a certain brand. The only thing I got for 'free' was a bag of haribo!!! You can't just use the points - you have to spend considerably more money, on specific brands, to get a pathetic 2% to 5% off.

I would not bother getting a goldcard as they are useless! I would also say that everything on sale in toys r us can also be got cheaper elsewhere!
