Time from verbal to written job offer?

Yippee I've had a verbal job offer :j
How long from a verbal offer should I expect anything in writing. It's been three working days.
The company are huge - several thousand employees spread over many sites. Their application process is all online and said they wanted to interview me a week or so before anyone rang to give me details. I've only ever worked for little companies where you say yes, they send the contract the same evening etc.
How long do these things take... starting to fret..

I was in the same position as you, was panicking about not having written confirmation, I have been in my job 4 weeks now and got it in writing 3 days ago!
congratulations on the job0 -
Hmmm I've got a job and I'm going to be leaving to take the new one... I'm not going to resign until I have everything in writing.0

It depends on how long it take to do the post recruitment follow up, you can hurry up the process by contacting your referees and begging them to return a requested reference quickly. CRB checks however and Fit checks just take their own sweet time. I would call them weekly to ask about progress.0

It hasn't even got as far as references yet...I haven't had a 'Thanks for your application we'd like to employ you for £X, who do you want us to contact for references?' letter.

I handed my notice in as soon as I got my start date verbally, I was quite fortunate, but I suppose you'd best wait, to be on the safe side0

Dont say anything to your current work until you have everything confirmed in writing.
Its only been 3 days, so no need to worry, things like this sometimes take a while to sort out. I would say 10 working days tops is reasonable. Although in my current role I waited for 6 weeks so it just depends!
Hope everything goes well and congrats on the offer0 -
I waited 3 months to get something in writing and then another 3 months before i started.
I started to push for something in writing after one and a half months.
However i had a plan and i was confident in my plan. It worked anyway im in the job i wanted now.0 -
I got a verbal job offer a month ago today. This was followed by a short letter confirming what the salary would be, asking to confirm I accept the offer and that it would be subject to references. The company confirmed they'd received the references and rang to say they would be sending the firm offer, but a week on I've still not received even the e-mailed offer, let alone anything through the post. The e-mail/voicemail I've sent have gone unanswered and I'm supposed to be starting in just over a week, yet I still have no idea about number of hours, times, leave entitlement or anything! Not only that, but I'm relocating for this job so I'm really beginning to panic :-(0
