Managerial Contract Work in Australia

I’m looking to find a short term contract (6months max) as aMarketing Manager in Australia. I’m looking to do this at the end of theyear by which time I’ll be 40.

Can anyone advise me on the formalities involved with thisparticularly to do with visa requirements? I’ve found some stuff on line but this seemsto be targeted to younger travellers under 30.

You can't work in Aus at your age without a formal job offer, usually on visa 457.

You will need to be realistic - very few companies will take on someone short term from the UK when they can get their own in Aus. They're not going to pay all the nomination and set up fees, be responsible for you, have responsibility for all your medical needs and flying you home unless you are nothing short of amazing and better than everyone else they can get!

It is incredibly difficult indeed, unless you have contacts or are in a company that has a branch in Aus who'd be willing to do it.

    Look at www.immi.gov.au.

You have to prove to the australian authorities that there is noone in the whole of australia who can do the job you applied for. Under 30s get different rules for short term working as they can be likely to stay and further boost the economy, but there are only a certain number of job types (which you can find on the australian immigration websites), and managers usually aren't one of them as they are not considered a 'key worker' role.
First point of call would be to research jobs, and speak to the australian embassy or consulate in London, to find out the current regulations, although these change FREQUENTLY, so what applies today, may not apply tomorrow.

Its unlikely you will be granted one based on age and job type.

That's not true, certainly not for temp work. DIAC don't need to have anything proven to them, they allow companies to make that decision, as long as the job and person fall within specific guidelines. It's the company you have to convince. Why would they recruit a UK person for 6 months, and have responsibility for their financial and medical needs, when they can get an Aussie for 6 months?

Again, not true!! For employer sponsored roles, there are plenty of jobs, many of them managers, and many not 'key' roles. Key roles only apply when you are emigrating without sponsorship, or without ENSOL.

Sorry, just had to correct this as it may be misleading for the OP. :)

Ok, thanks for taking the time to reply... Looks like I need to have a little re-think.
