LED GU10 Lightbulbs SMD 5050 with 27 led

Found these lights listed on Amazon which are 1/2 the price of any others like it.

Search for this on Amazon and if you look down to the 4th listing down you will see this item.

I found it best to stick to Warm Light with the LED lights as it the same as the 50w halogen but 90% cheaper to run.

We have 18 lights in our kitchen and I will change them all over to these new SMD's which are far brighter than traditional LED's.

These are 240v so no need for a transformer.

Basically a direct replacement for the 50w 240v halogen lights.

You will have to look around for the 12v ones which will work with your transformer.

Not as long as you are swapping like for like voltage. These ones are 240 volt, so should be a straight swap for mains voltage halogens.

I swapped all my mains voltage halogens over to LED last year without any problems.

Just a note about this offer - I thought I would buy a few spares as they are reasonably priced, but they do not offer postage discounts, so it would cost £12 in postage for six bulbs. I can get a similar deal (better if buying in 10's) from my normal ebay supplier, so will give it a miss

If anyone would like the Halogen lightbulb GU10 50w (not led) there are packs of 8 bulbs (2 lots of 4 packs sealed together) for £3.50 in Tesco. They are 44p a bulb. Saw this deal on hotukdeals and managed to pick some up on Saturday in my local tesco. They had an original price of £14.97 originally and this is the best price I have seen for these. They were available online but by the time I went to purchase they were out of stock. This deal is nationwide according to hotukdeals. I think the idea with the LED bulbs is the long term savings rather than the cost per bulb. It is claimed that LED bulbs should last 1000 times longer than halogen.

From my perspective, I have replaced 4x50 watt bulbs in my bathroom (wife and 3 kids = lights on all the time) with 4x1w LED's. With the halogens at an average use of 145kwh usage per annum, that would cost about £16 a year at the 'tier 2' rate. The equivalent LED usage costs about 32p

Not sure on these leds but many of them dont last years in fact many dont come with over 2 year guarantee which says something about there confidence on how long they last, bare in mind the costs of them.

How long a guarantee do you get with traditional bulbs???

It's emerging technology, but will get better and cheaper. If I had to replace the LEDs every two years, It would still be cheaper (for me, based on my family usage) than running standard halogens - and I don't see any big electricity price drops coming!

It is all about power consumption, I have 52 GU10s in my house, with the old halogen bulbs that equated to over 2.5Kw if they were all on (and believe me, with my kids they are ALWAYS left on), I swapped them all for 4w SMD bulbs a few months ago so basically I now use 200w if they are all on and I do not have to constantly moan at the kids if they leave the lights on etc.

I have ordered a couple of these 5.5w to try as my 4w are 350 lumens and these claim to be 460 lumens.

You dont pay a arm and a leg for traditional bulbs or CFL's

Led's should last longer the problem with cheap ones often is heat dissipation which shortens life of them from my understanding
